Weymouth Climate Hub is part of the CEC Network which is a growing network of local community groups seeking to establish local spaces dedicated to combatting climate change and biodiversity loss.
CEC stands for “Climate Emergency Centre” – a concept developed in 2019 by SpaceGenerators. The idea is to utilise “meanwhile leases” to bring unused and empty high-street properties into community use. You can find out more about the model at either of the above links.
The Scottish government is also funding similar projects called “Climate Action Hubs”. You can read more about them here: https://www.gov.scot/policies/climate-change/climate-challenge-fund/
In Weymouth a group of local people have registered the charity “Climate Resources And Guidance”, whose operating name is Weymouth Climate Hub.
